In 24 hours we'll be starting our MKE → ORD → CDG route!
Since you're already packed and prepped, here’s some fitting tidbits for you to know:
1) The short hop from MKE to ORD is one of the shortest scheduled flights in the world, often spending more time taxiing than cruising.
2) Long flights dry out the cabin air to humidity levels lower than most deserts. Even a small bottle of water goes a long way toward making the overnight flight feel better.
3) Planes fly colder than you think. Cabin temps often feel cool because your body loses heat faster in the low humidity.
4) For every 1,000 feet we climb, the air gets about 2 degrees colder. So while it might be a mild 50 degrees at the airport, outside our window at cruising altitude it can be close to NEGATIVE 50!
5) That “ding” shortly after takeoff means the plane has passed 10,000 feet. It signals the crew they can start moving freely.
6) Each airplane window is triple-paned. The tiny hole in the middle pane controls pressure so the outer layer handles the stress.
7) Charles de Gaulle’s Terminal 2 is so large it has its own bus network. It’s basically a small town with runways.
8) The average person walks 7 to 10 miles per day in Paris without trying. The city layout does the work for you.
9) Most European hotel rooms expect you to use a key card to activate the power. It is designed to save electricity, but it completely baffles Americans.
10) Rail stations in Europe often have the best bakeries in the neighborhood. Locals know it, tourists don’t. It makes early morning train trips SO much more enjoyable!
See you tomorrow!!
